Radical Rest:

Empowerment Through Yoga

My signature yoga program for women of color and allies that want to cultivate a life of radical rest.

Rest becomes radical when we divest from systems of oppression.

Our relationship to rest is similar to our relationship to our body - it can be difficult to remember how intuitive it once felt. This program is for you if you are interested to decolonize yoga and learn how yoga can help you to rest.

Live classes take place over Zoom based on a special theme.

Led by Irene Lo, Radical Rest is a yoga and care circle group program to help you show up in the world with the awareness, the certainty, and the confidence of who you are.

Yoga for Radical Rest: Asian Joy

Anti-Asian racism has had an impact on Asian American health during the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that the memory of race-based stress and trauma lodge themselves in our body.

We also know yoga is a practice that can lessen our suffering. The limbs of yoga directly impacts our nervous system so that we can emotionally regulate in difficult situations. Yoga also helps us to face our suffering, to transform our consciousness so that we can cultivate kindness to ourselves and others.

Each class, we journey through affirmations of joy, I Dream of Change, I Offer Kindness to my Body, I Do Nothing, I Am a Living Myth, I Channel My Rage, I Possess Strength in Softness, I Speak in Silence, and I Have What I Need to Thrive.

Open to Asian women and non-binary kin folk of the diaspora, Radical Rest: Asian Joy took place from April 18-May 13, 2022. There were two weekly hatha and yin yoga practices held over Zoom with a special bonus practice, Candlelit Yin Yoga at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden in Vancouver.

Yoga For Radical Rest

Moving beyond yoga as white women acrobatics, Yoga for Radical Rest will decolonize your understanding of yoga in the west. This way, we live a life of radical liberation that will change the way that you approach to work and life.

Each week, your yoga asana practice will be accompanied by a thematic lecture on topics like Filling Your Cup, Releasing Creative Shame, Detachment in the Yoga Sutras, The Shadow of Our Ego, Union with the Divine, and The Strength in Softness.

Open for burnt out women of colour feeling tired from the daily 9-5 grind, for women of colour that run their own business but may be feeling energetically drained.

Radical Rest: Empowerment Through Yoga took place from July 27 - September 17, 2021. There were weekly yoga asana practices and lectures on yoga and rest with a special Closing Ceremony.
